Course Outline
Pre-Course Learning
This course is in depth and hands on, prioritising in studio time towards teaching and performing the Pilates repertoire. Prior to attending your first session, you will be distributed the Alignment Academy Anatomy content to study prior to covering during your teacher training. A minimum of 25 hours/three months of consistent Pilates participation is recommended.
The Repertoire
Unique to the Alignment Academy syllabus is complete coverage of both classical repertoire and contemporary variations and modifications that delivers you with breadth and depth of knowledge. Learn over one hundred exercises and variations including a variety of set ups and props. You’ll also learn how to best perform and teach these exercises but importantly to also modify and adapt from injury, pregnancy and beyond.
Teaching Skills
One of the most important aspects of your training and Pilates career is developing and nurturing your teaching skills. Expect opportunities to practise teaching across a variety of exercises and learn correct, intuitive and sophisticated cueing techniques to take your technical knowledge into real teaching environments.
Post Course Learning
Once the course hours are completed it’s over to you to complete your assessment hours prior to examination (see below). We are invested in supporting and supervising your post course journey with opportunities including:
exclusive access to privates with Victoria (in studio and virtually)
availability to observe Vicalates classes (in studio and virtually)
potential for select students to practise teaching hours in the studio and/or with Vicalates clients
Assessment
Comprehensive assessment is essential here to ensure both your competency and confidence. Assessment will be conducted according to leading international industry standard requirements including a written exam and practical examinations alongside the following completed before the exam:
30 hours of observation
45 hours of practise teaching
50 hours of personal practise
Taught by the Vicalates founder and principal instructor, Alignment Academy Teacher Training was born as amalgamation of all of her international qualifications and professional experience. It is unique in it’s comprehensive coverage of both classical, contemporary and advanced repertoire alongside intelligently teaching you how to manage injury and pregnancy alongside refining your cueing and teaching skills.

You do not need to be a Vicalates client prior to Teacher Training; however, if you are not we do recommend getting into some classes either virtually or IRL as part of your teacher training journey.
We do heavily suggest you have a minimum of three months Pilates experience, especially on the Reformer, before undertaking training. The more experience you have, the more you receive from your training.

apart from the course days there is no difference in the structure of the content, it is just based on what dates and structure suits you best.

Teacher Training seamlessly integrates with the Alignment Academy modules as the module program enhances and builds on all of the skill sets you develop in Teacher Training. It is highly recommended to be completely qualified that you complete the Academy program in conjunction to Teacher Training.

Just like you are in the studio with us! As long as you have access to the necessary equipment (reformer + basic props) we will live cue, critique and work with you throughout the training. There will also be ample time for virtual participants to ask questions and be involved in group discussion.
You will be sent zoom links to stream into the days and receive all of your content virtually. You can also test out and complete your assessment virtually. Due to the nature of the education and live feedback, you will need to tune in live at AEST
